Governmental Affairs Consultant
Whitney Keenan

Whitney joined McCall Hamilton in 2023, bringing with her a strong foundation in health care, research, and government. Her path into public service began in the Michigan House of Representatives, where she received mentorship from Representative Mary Whiteford, Chair of the Appropriations Committee, and House Floor Leader Bryan Posthumus. There, she focused on community priorities, media engagement, and policy analysis.

Before entering the legislative space, Whitney spent a combined nine years working in health care and research - initially working the frontline as an emergency medical technician, and then specializing in pediatric and advanced phlebotomy at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Whitney’s interest in public health was initially sparked while assisting in research as a student at Central Michigan University. Examining the effects of media usage on adolescents shaped her path toward policy work. Whitney graduated with distinction, earning her Bachelors in Biomedical, Cellular, and Molecular Biology.

At McCall Hamilton, Whitney blends her legislative insight and medical background to champion patient-centered initiatives. Her work is currently concentrated in epilepsy safety and independence, cardiology and oncology priorities, maternal and child health, and childcare policy.

Outside of work, Whitney lives in Grand Rapids with her fiancé Devin and their fluffy German shepherd, Grizzly. She enjoys tending her vegetable garden, growing a small collection of citrus trees, and cultivating a backyard habitat with native flowers to support local pollinators. She is a regular at the Fulton Street Farmer's Market, where she can often be found chatting with local farmers and lobbying Devin for backyard chickens.
